- Mia Khalifa: The Internet's Most Popular And Controversial Pornstar
Posted by : Pinterest
Wednesday, January 7, 2015
For those of you that didn't know, and I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here, Pornhub is the #1 porn website in the world (71st most visited) and they have recently made the announcement that newbie Mia Khalifa is the most searched pornstar on their site, dethroning the site's most popular pornstar Lisa Ann. This is shocking news for anyone who rarely leaves their basement, but it's the backlash Khalifa is experiencing by her home country of Beirut, Lebanon that is really making waves.
Apparently her representation of her Lebanese heritage has lead to not only her conservative family's embarassment, but also hate mail and even death threats despite the fact that she's a college graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in History. You know it must be bad whenNewsweek even decides writes an article about this pornstar.
A big point of contention between Khalifa and Lebanon is in some of Khalifa's porn, she wears a hijab (pictured here in a scene), a scarf worn by Muslim women. Another huge factor is her Lebanese tattoos. One being the Lebanese Forces cross, a symbol of the Christian political party. And the other in Arabic, stating "Koullouna lil-watan, lil’oula lil-‘alam," which is apparently the opening line of the Lebanese national anthem. So I suppose when you are doing filthy porn, your conservative home land may not want all of that advertised as you board the bang bus (she's apparently also a Bang Bus contract girl.)
But Khalifa is firing back at all of the haters from her Twitter account which has over 132,000 followers (not to mention her Instagram has over 175,000 followers). Of course both profile pictures show her sitting naked to make her country that much more annoyed I'm sure.
You tell'em, Khalifa!
So turn that frown upside down, Mia. Even with this controversy, something tells me she'll be just fine with as many fans that she has on her side. Just as long as she literally never ever visits the Middle Eastever again.
